Here we recognize the fine work of those who are working
on or contributing to this project. We
don’t have everyone on here yet, and will be adding more along the way.
Additional contact information and links will be added
soon
The
Master Craftsmen
Will and Bruce MacFarlane are jacks of all trades
and masters of most. They
have reconstructed the interior of the house, correcting the bends and
slopes and will shortly begin plastering the house – the old fashioned
way – top to bottom.
We
owe a lot to these two; without them this project could not possibly
be done. Will’s deep
experience in construction, finishing, plastering, tile, etc., is making
all the difference in the world.
Bruce’s years of experience and hard work are turning this house
into a real showcase. Real
experts, both.
And
they like sailing, too!

Barns, beams,
reconstruction, and lots of heavy lifting
Circle
® Enterprises
(Horse
Barns, Garages, Warehouses, Restoration, and Retrofitting)
410 867 2532
This
crew built us a fine barn, jacked up and replaced the main beam in
the house, ripped out untold amounts of debris, replaced the kitchen
floor, and are reconstructed the burned out building next door,
restoring it to use as an office, and improving it greatly along the way.
We’ll
soon have a photo spread to introduce you to some of their crew and show
you their work. Top quality, top speed, fair prices (and generally
nice to have around!).
Check
out the "Old Shop", the "main
beam" problem, the "barn",
and who knows what's next -- we keep calling them
back for a reason! |

Plumbers Friend and Ours, Too
Heidler
Plumbing
http://www.heidlerplumbing.com/
Mick
and Steve Heidler have been around this area for some time and have done
work for the family for years. This
job is a top-to-bottom job, replacing everything.
Click
here for more of their work.
Kirk
Liverette and Chuck are doing all the work, and they have done a wonderful
job reversing years of neglect and damage by previous plumbers who thought
nothing of cutting right through main support beams to route a drain.
They
have been especially good about routing around and through the old beams
– and remembering to add vents that never existed in the house before! |

We’re
not Cross with these guys
Cross
Electric
410 757 6296
Larry
Krzyzaniak, who is Cross Electric, is totally rewiring the house,
top to bottom. It needed it,
too. Lots of
“interesting” tie-ins over the years.
He
wired, or soon will wire, pretty much everything on the Farm. He
does good work, fast, and fair. And, he’s the game warden for the
farm.

Our Security Blanket
Marcellus
Security
410 224 4730
Merle watches over many of us in
Annapolis, and is always patient. I call him the stealth security
guy since whenever I call him he's in and out before I notice. And
it's all done correctly.
The other day I managed to catch him in
action; a rare feat!
Merle put a top flight security system
in for us. I'd give you the details, but then I'd have to shoot
you. Suffice to say it's comprehensive. Burglars beware!

Best millwork I’ve ever seen!
Jack Abeel
804 991 2007
Well,
we finally have a first hand report on Jack's setup. We went down to
get the latest load of millwork and had a wonderful time. Click
here for the story of the trip and Jack's shop.
Sills,
door casings, hand turned rosettes, pine floors.
And
one of the best bluegrass pickers around. I have the CD to prove it. |

Best Mason anywhere
Forsythe Masonry
Bill Forsythe has been laying brick for over 40 years in this
area. He really knows his trade and enjoys his work. You'll
run into him all over Annapolis doing jobs.
He's taught me how to do a lot of things!
There is more of his work in the kitchen and wing.
And, he's the nicest person in the world. Seriously.

Custom heat and
air conditioning for an old house...
The
Frosty Refrigeration Company, Inc.
410 269 6589 Annapolis
410 747 2022 Baltimore
Everyone
I spoke to about heating and air conditioning recommended Frosty when I
asked who was the best. Now we know why. These guys are good.
Really good. Click here for a
progress report. They
have specialized teams for each phase and custom design, manufacture, and
install ductwork to suit. There will be two heating/cooling systems
in the attic for the third and second floor, and two more in the basement
for the wing and first floor. (We nick-named the heating team the
"toasty" team to go along with the AC "frosty" team.) There
will be one central boiler feeding hot water to each of the fan driven
heating coils throughout the house. No more clanging single-pipe
radiators! |

You will be floored when you see their work!
Bay Floors
Annapolis:

Arnold:

Easton: 410-822-6580
These folks have done work for us for years and Fred Connatser (the president -
and not yet pictured here) really knows what he's doing. I'll do a
spread on what we decided to do on them shortly and show you how we are
going to install and dress the new heart pine floor in the wing.

Don't trash these guys;
they're good!
Calvert
Trash
1-800-MRTRASH
We figure we've loaded about 18 of these 30' roll-offs so
far. That's a LOT of debris.
The folks at Calvert have been really good at parking
these things where we need them and making sure we get fast pickup and
return. Essential on a job like this.
Some of the loads (like the one with the old furnace) were
so heavy that the front wheels of the truck lifted six inches off the
ground while the container was winched aboard!

Clear, cool, (acid reduced), water
Phelps
Water Co.
410 956 2522
We've known for a while that our water, which is drawn
from a dug well, is very acid. Over time, the water will eat away
copper pipes if untreated, creating pin hole leaks. Very bad.
We want our new pipes to last.
There are other things in the water we also don't
like. I won't mention them; they are now filtered out.
Phelps installed a deluxe treatment system that
corrects these problems. Good system, good price. |
